The pertinent information we need is your name, billing address (street address, city, state, zip code), credit card number and expiration date. We also ask that you provide your e-mail address so that we may send you a confirmation of your reservation, and your home and cell phone numbers. We request a means of contacting you while you are in the Traverse City area, in case we need to contact you regarding your rental.

What is your reservation deposit policy?

Blue Sky requires a 20% deposit (of total rental charge) in order to enter you on our calendar. The deposit will be fully credited to your rental cost at the time of rental.

Due to the short snowmobiling season, and the high demand for snowmobile rentals, the deposit is non-refundable within 15 days of your rental. Any refunds we grant are subject to a 10% processing fee (10% of deposit only). (see also- cancellation policy)

How can I reserve a sled
if I want to pay with cash?

Special arrangements may be made for you, specifically in regards to your reservation deposit. At our discretion, we may reserve equipment for you without actually drawing funds from your credit card. However, the full rental amount will be verified through your credit card company, and funds will be frozen on your account for 3-5 working days, depending on your bank's policy. You can always pay the 80% balance of your reservation with cash.

What are your hours of operation?

Blue Sky will make every effort to accommodate your schedule whenever possible. However, we ask that you use these guidelines when planning your snowmobiling adventure:

  • Half day rentals are scheduled from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Evening or night rides are available, and can be quite pleasant. Feel free to request this. Evening rides start at 7:00 pm, and are available in 2 hour and 4 hour increments.

  • Full day rentals typically begin at 9:00 am, and run to 6:00 or 7:00 pm. We have some flexibility here, feel free to ask.

  • 24 hour rentals should be scheduled with the time guidelines in mind. They should start at either 9:00 am, 2:00 pm, or 7:00 pm. Again, we may be flexible on these times, depending on demand for the equipment.

Do you deliver, and to what areas?

Yes, we can deliver to your location, but would prefer that you come to our location at Peegeo's. We have many guests requesting snowmobile rentals, and we need to service them all! We have certain guidelines we follow for delivery:

  • We cannot deliver a snowmobile for a half-day rental.

  • Full day and 24 hour rental deliveries will be restricted to our 15 mile radius policy. At our discretion, these deliveries may be scheduled before normal operating hours for drop-off, and after hours for pickup at no extra cost to you. This is dependent on our daily schedule- should you request this service, you will be charged accordingly.

  • Multiple day or multiple sled (single day) rentals are eligible for delivery outside our 15 mile radius, delivery fee applies. Please call in advance to request delivery, we shall give you an accurate quote for the delivery at that time.

While we would like to accommodate everyone's delivery request, there are not enough hours in the day! So, come on down to Peegeo's! We're right at the trailhead, with food and fuel just a stone's throw away!

What is included
in the cost of snowmobile rental?

Other rental companies charge an equipment fee, and add a set fueling fee to derive  the total fee. Blue Sky feels it is unfair to charge a set fee for fuel usage. Therefore, our policy is to charge the customary rental fee, and let the rider decide how much fuel to use.

However, Blue Sky will include all required safety equipment, at no charge. We also provide you with an up to date trail map of our area. Comfort items (ski bibs, gloves, boots, etc.) may be available for a small fee.

Do you offer any lodging discounts?

Yes! Blue Sky enjoys relationships with several lodging establishments that offer discounted rates for our customers. Let us know the price range and level of accommodations you desire, we can recommend the right hotel / motel / resort for you!

Do you have any age restrictions
for renting a snowmobile?

Blue Sky requires a minimum of 21 years of age to rent a snowmobile. Under 21 riders in your group? Usually not a problem, as long as a parent or guardian assumes responsibility for the rental (including damages and injury) and will provide direct supervision.

There are age restrictions defined by the State of Michigan as well:

Minimum age to drive a snowmobile is 12 years of age. Cannot cross roads, must be under direct supervision of parent or guardian.

Age 17, can cross roads ONLY if they have, in their immediate possession, a valid State of Michigan Snowmobile Safety Certificate.

Age 21, no State imposed restrictions.

Do you offer insurance coverage
for damages to the equipment?

Unfortunately, no. You will be responsible for all damages to the equipment, up to and beyond the damage deposit collected.

Please check with your homeowners insurance provider to see if you have protection for rental of snowmobiles. If not, there may be an insurance rider available to you for a small fee.

Are there any other issues I need to be aware of?

Yes!

  • Blue Sky Rentals has adopted the "Zero Tolerance" policy- NO intoxicants until you are done riding for the day. As stated above, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation if you're "over the limit".

  • No one with a suspended or revoked drivers license will be allowed to rent a snowmobile. No exceptions (it's the law!)

  • Single passenger snowmobiles are designed just for that purpose- a single passenger! There are many dangers present when overloading a snowmobile, and Blue Sky will not absorb the liability of sending the sleds out overloaded. Taking a small child along on a single passenger sled may be acceptable, Blue Sky shall make the determination at time of rental.

  • All snowmobiles will be full of gas and oil at the time of your rental. It is expected that you will return them full of gas and oil. A $35 fueling fee will be assessed otherwise.

Have a safe and pleasant trip!
